Terms
What we owe each other.
Thirty free minutes, no card, no subscription. Nothing here charges you money, because nothing here can take any.

The agreement
These terms are between you and [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], of [REGISTERED ADDRESS] — “we” and “us” below. Creating an account or calling the API means you accept them. If you are doing this for a company, you are confirming you may accept them on its behalf.
The privacy policy is part of this agreement and describes what happens to your data. Read it before you upload anything; it is short and there is one paragraph in it that matters more than everything on this page.
What Fovea does
You send a video and a JSON schema — a real JSON Schema or a loose sketch of the shape you want. We analyse the video with a multimodal model and return JSON matching that schema. Three ways in: the web app, one REST endpoint, and an MCP server. They are the same product with the same rules.
What is and is not guaranteed
Shape is guaranteed. Judgement is not. Every response is validated against your schema before it reaches you, and a malformed one is retried internally rather than returned half-built. But the contents are a model’s reading of your video, and a model can be confidently wrong.
Ask for timestamps on the fields that matter, so you can check them. Do not wire Fovea straight into a decision with legal, financial, medical or safety consequences without a human in the loop.
Accounts
One person, one email address, one password. Keep the password to yourself and keep your API keys secret — a key is shown once at creation and we cannot recover it, so anything done with your key is treated as done by you. Revoke a key in the dashboard the moment you think it has leaked.
You must be at least 16 to have an account. Tell us at once if you think someone else is using yours.
Free minutes
Every account gets 30 minutes of video processing, free, without a card. It is granted once when you sign up.
- It is a hard cap. When the minutes are gone, jobs stop rather than overdraw.
- Nothing renews. There is no monthly allowance and no automatic refill — the 30 minutes are the 30 minutes.
- Usage is measured per second from the file we received, probed on our server, with a one-minute minimum per job. A duration you tell us is never used.
- Your balance is the sum of an append-only ledger. Every deduction names the job that caused it, and you can see both in the dashboard.
- A job that fails is not charged. We take the minutes only once you have the result.
Making extra accounts to get extra free minutes is not a clever trick, it is the one thing that makes a free tier impossible to keep offering. We will close accounts that do it.
Top-ups are not live
The pricing section shows $5, $25 and $100 at twenty minutes to the dollar. None of those buttons take money. There is no payment processor connected to this product, we hold no card details, and there is no way for us to charge you.
Pressing a price records that you wanted to pay — which tier and where you pressed it — and nothing else. It is how we decide whether to build payments at all. You are not entering a contract to buy anything, no invoice follows, and no obligation exists on either side.
When top-ups do go live, they will have their own terms covering price, refunds and how purchased minutes work, and you will have to agree to them before anything is charged. Prepaid minutes are the intended model: nothing renews, nothing is a subscription, unused minutes carry over. That is an intention today, not a promise.
Limits
- Ten minutes per video at launch. Extraction currently runs inside the request that started it, so that is the honest ceiling. The landing page mentions thirty; ten is what ships today and this page is the one that binds.
- 2 GB per file.
- 30 minutes of processing per account, per section 04.
We may add rate limits without notice if the service is being hammered. If we do, you will get a clear error, not a silent failure.
Acceptable use
Do not use Fovea to:
- process video you do not have the rights to process, or that you have no lawful basis for putting through a third-party model;
- process content that is unlawful where you are or where we are — child sexual abuse material above all, and anything else the law forbids;
- conduct surveillance of people who have not agreed to it, or build biometric identification of individuals;
- break, probe or overload the service, work around the minutes cap, or resell access in a way that is really an attempt to get free capacity;
- use the output to harass, defame or endanger anyone.
If you break this section we can suspend or close your account immediately. We would rather email you first, and usually will.
Your content stays yours
You keep every right you had in your video, your schema and the JSON we return. We claim no ownership of any of it and we do not gain rights in your data by processing it.
You give us one licence, and it is as narrow as running the job allows: permission to store, transmit and process your video and schema for the purpose of producing the extraction you asked for. It covers sending the file to Google’s Gemini API, because that is how the analysis happens. It lasts as long as the job. When the job ends the video is deleted from our disk and from Google’s API, and the licence has nothing left to apply to.
The extracted JSON is kept on your job record so you can re-open past extractions. It is yours; we hold it for you. The privacy policy explains what that means and why it is the thing worth thinking about before you upload.
You are responsible for having the right to send us what you send us — consent, licences, and a lawful basis for anyone appearing in the footage.
Nothing you send trains a model
We do not use your videos, your schemas or your results to train, fine-tune or evaluate any model. We do not use them to build features, we do not hand them to anyone for that purpose, and we use Google’s paid API tier so that the same holds there.
This is a promise on the landing page and it is a term of this contract. If it ever changes it will be an opt-in you are asked about, never a quiet edit to this page.
Availability, and the state of things
Fovea launched today. It runs on one server. There is no uptime commitment, no SLA, no support hours and no guarantee that a job you start will finish. We may take it down for deploys without warning.
The service is provided as is and as available. To the extent the law allows, we exclude every implied warranty — fitness for a purpose, merchantability, accuracy, uninterrupted operation. We do not warrant that the extracted data is correct.
Things we depend on can fail independently of us: Google’s API, our host, DNS. An error from Fovea will be a typed, stable error code and will never leak provider detail, but it can still mean the job did not happen.
If you are relying on Fovea for something that matters, keep your source video and keep your own copy of the results.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, business interruption, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Fovea — including from an extraction that was wrong.
Our total liability for all claims is capped at the greater of what you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim and [CAP FIGURE]. You have paid us nothing, because we cannot take payment. That is not a rhetorical point: it is the measure of what this service currently costs you and what it is reasonable to expect of it.
Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
You are responsible for what you put in. If a claim is brought against us because you sent us content you had no right to send, you will cover it.
Ending it
You can stop at any time. Email us and we will delete your account, its jobs, its extracted JSON, its API keys and its ledger. There is no self-service delete button yet and we are not pretending otherwise.
We can suspend or close an account that breaks section 07, that is being used to farm free minutes, or that is threatening the service for everyone else. If we shut Fovea down altogether we will give notice and time to export what you have, at [NOTICE PERIOD — TO DECIDE].
Sections 08, 09, 11 and 15 survive the end of this agreement. Unspent free minutes have no cash value and are not refundable, because they were never bought.
Changes
We will change these terms as the product changes — the video cap moving from ten minutes to thirty, top-ups going live, a worker taking long jobs onto a webhook. The date at the top is the version marker.
A change that takes something away from you — a lower cap, a new charge, a narrower promise — will be flagged at the top of this page rather than slipped in. Carrying on using Fovea after a change means you accept it. If you do not, close the account.
The rest
- If a court strikes out part of these terms, the rest stands and the struck part is read as narrowly as it can lawfully be.
- Not enforcing something once does not waive it. We may assign this agreement to a company that acquires the business; you may not assign it without asking.
- These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between us. Nothing said elsewhere — the landing page, an email, a README — overrides them. Where the landing page and this page disagree on a number, this page wins.
- We are not your agent and you are not ours. There is no partnership here, just a service.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of [GOVERNING LAW — JURISDICTION UNDECIDED], and disputes go to the courts of [COURTS — UNDECIDED]. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in, whatever this section says.
This clause cannot be finished without deciding where the operating entity sits. It is the one term on this page that a lawyer must set rather than confirm.
